Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS be pleased to satate :-
(a) whether it is a fact that the Ministry has approved several projects violating the green norms;
(b) if so, the details of approvals given during the last two years; and
(c) the reasons for violation of the norms?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS (SHRIMATI JAYANTHI NATARAJAN)
(a) No Sir. Ministry of Environments & Forests (MoEF), in discharge of its statuary function accords Forest and Environment clearances to the projects, as per the procedures laid down in the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 and the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and Rules framed there-under. MoEF did not accord approval to any project in violation of the norms/procedure stipulated under the afore-mentioned statutes.
(b) & (c) In view of reply to part (a) above, reply to parts (b) and (c) does not arise.
